Arturo Chavez

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arturo Chavez was a Mexican football player who acted in attack .

career

In the last few years, Chávez played in the Liga Mayor , which was officially still operated as an amateur, from at least 1940 until at least the introduction of professional football in 1943 for the capital club Club Marte and therefore probably also belonged to the squad of the Marcianos team , who were the last champions of the amateur era ( 1942/43 season) went down in the history of Mexican football.

From 1944 to 1947 Chavez worked for the newly founded club Puebla FC , with which he was runner-up in the Mexican professional league in its first season in 1944/45 and also won the cup competition after the season .

In the 1947/48 season he was probably under contract with Real Club España .

Assuming the correctness of the only known source, Chávez was probably in action in the (late?) 1930s for CF Asturias , the other large "Spanish" club in the early years of Mexican football.

Arturo Chavez was last listed in the 1946/47 season as a goalscorer for Puebla FC. Another player named Chavez is not mentioned in those years. It is not certain whether Arturo Chavez played for España in the 1947/48 season or whether this was possibly another (possibly foreign) player who perhaps only spent one season in Mexico.
