Arturo Velazco (born December 18, 1964 in San Diego ) is a former American ( indoor ) soccer player . He was a defender . He played four seasons in the Western Soccer Alliance , five in the American Professional Soccer League , three in the National Professional Soccer League and one in the Continental Indoor Soccer League .

Professional career

Soccer

Velazco graduated from La Jolla High School . In 1984 he joined the San Diego Sockers , which played in the North American Soccer League . In 1986 he signed a contract with the San Diego Nomads ( Western Soccer Alliance ). In 1991 Velazco joined the Colorado Foxes . He moved to Miami Freedom in 1992. On April 29, 1993, he signed a contract with Los Angeles Salsa .

Indoor soccer

On October 4, 1989, Velazco began his indoor soccer career with the San Diego Sockers in the Major Indoor Soccer League . In October 1990, he moved to Milwaukee Wave in the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) . He also played two seasons for the Wichita Wings in the NPSL. In 1995 he played for the Mexico Toros in the Continental Indoor Soccer League .

USA national team

Velazco played twice for the United States national soccer team in June 1988 . In the first game against the Chilean national soccer team , the opponents separated on June 1 with a 1-1 draw. Two days later the US lost to Chile 3-1.
