Arvydas Vidžiūnas

Arvydas Vidžiūnas (born March 8, 1962 in Valenčiūnai , Rajongemeinde Šakiai ) is a Lithuanian linguist, Baltist and politician , member of the Seimas , former first vice- president.

Life

After graduating from the Šakiai Middle School , Arvydas Vidžiūnas completed his diploma in Lithuanian Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Vilnius , studied with a scholarship at the University of Greifswald and then obtained his doctorate in 1991 in Lithuanian accentology on the subject of "Priesaginių vardažodžių kirčiavimo ir akcentinės kodifikacijos istorija Mažoji Lietuva ir J. Jablonskis ", taught at the Department of Lithuanian Language at Vilnius University.

From 1996 to 2004 he was and since 2008 a member of the Seimas , from 1996 to 1999 Deputy Speaker of Parliament, from 1999 to 2000 first Deputy Chairman of the Seimas.
