Arxan ( Chinese  阿尔山 市 , Pinyin Ā'ěrshān Shì ; Mongolian ᠷᠠᠰᠢᠶᠠᠨ ᠬᠣᠲᠠ Arxaan hôt ) is an independent city in the northwest of the Hinggan League in the northeast of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China . It is located on the Tao'er He River . The Baicheng-Arxan railway line ( Bai-A tielu ) runs through the town. The administrative area of ​​the independent city has an area of ​​7,409 km² and approx. 50,000 inhabitants (2004).
