Asa'ib Ahl al-Haqq ( Arabic عصائب أهل الحق, DMG ʿAṣāʾib Ahl al-Ḥaqq  'League of the Righteous People'), also known as the Chazali Terror Network , is a paramilitary- run Shiite extremist militia from Iraq that is also active in Syria . According to a report in the British daily The Guardian in March 2014, the terrorist group is financed by Iran .

The group is officially headed by Qais Chazali, who fought in the ranks of the so-called Mahdi Army until 2004 . The actual commander was General Qasem Soleimani of the Iranian al-Quds unit , a special unit of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard .

The United States classifies them as the largest Special Group (SG) within Iraq, alongside the Mahdi Army . US armed forces use the term SG to describe Shiite militias, terrorist groups or other groups. These are supported financially and personally by Iran . The US Department of Defense holds the Asaʾib Ahl al-Haqq responsible for over 6,000 attacks on US and UK forces in Iraq.

In Iraq, the group is currently fighting against IS as part of the popular mobilization alliance . In Syria she takes part in the civil war in Syria on the side of the government troops of Bashar al-Assad and fights against IS and the Free Syrian Army as well as against other rebels and opponents of the government. The part fighting in Syria is also known as the Haidar al-Qarar Brigade and is led by Akram al-Kabi.
