The Asas volcanic field ( Russian Азас ) is located in Tuwa west of Lake Baikal and north of the border with Mongolia . Several cinder cones are located on the high plateau, which covers an area of about 2000 square kilometers. The most striking phenomenon of the area is of 2769.8 meters high Stratovolcano Schiwit-Taiga , once the two summit crater lava contained. The Derbi-Taiga shield volcano has a height of 2652.6 meters. Several cinder cones and basaltic lava flows formed in the Holocene . No firm scientific data are known about the most recent outbreak .
