ascos

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ascos is the name of a satellite reference service in Germany. It is operated by AXIO-NET GmbH .

history

The ascos service was founded by E.ON-Ruhrgas AG in 2000 for its own needs. Initially, the reference stations were only set up at E.ON branches. E.ON-Ruhrgas has been cooperating with SAPOS since 2003 in order to be able to offer a comprehensive service. On March 1, 2008, the ascos service was transferred from E.ON-Ruhrgas to AXIO-NET GmbH. The shareholders were Astrium Services GmbH (a subsidiary of EADS ) and Allsat GmbH network + services, based in Hanover. AXIO-NET GmbH has been a 100% subsidiary of Astrium Services GmbH since the end of 2013.

function

The global navigation satellite systems (currently GPS , GLONASS , Galileo and Beidou ) are monitored around the clock via a network of GNSS reference stations and the corresponding correction data are calculated from the observations. These are then made available to users via the Internet and mobile communications. This enables high-precision measurements with GPS technology with an accuracy of 1 to 2 cm in real time .

Future development

The number of applications for high-precision satellite positioning has grown steadily in recent years. Based on the classic surveying applications, these services are predicted to experience strong growth in machine control both on construction sites and in agriculture .
