Satellite reference service

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A satellite reference service is a data service that provides correction data for DGPS measurements .

technology

The global navigation satellite systems (currently GPS and GLONASS ) are monitored around the clock via a network of GNSS reference stations and the corresponding correction data are calculated from the observations. These are then made available to users via GPRS or mobile radio . This enables precise measurements with an accuracy of 1–2 cm, even in real time .

Overview

There are currently four providers in Germany: The SAPOS service is provided by the land surveying offices of the federal states. The ascos service is operated by AXIO-NET GmbH. Trimble also offers the VRSNow service and Leica Geosystems the Smartnet service.

Future development

The number of applications for high-precision satellite positioning has grown steadily in recent years. Based on the classic surveying applications, these services are predicted to experience strong growth in machine control both on construction sites and in agriculture .
