Ascott d'Oyley Manor House

The Ascot d'Oilly Castle is a listed monument. It is on private property north of the village of Ascott-under-Wychwood in Oxfordshire , England . A fragment of the castle is still standing and is a listed building.

It is believed that the castle was built around 1129 and was demolished shortly after 1175. There are remains of a stone tower. It was excavated by Martyn Jope and RI Threlfall in 1959, discovering 12th century pottery. The remains consist of a raised ground floor surrounded by a wide moat. Only the traces of the tower remain, and they suggest that it had dimensions of about 10.7 m square with 2.4 m thick walls.
