Aspei is a group of artists, writers and cultural scientists from Bochum who have been involved in international art and cultural exchange since the early 1980s. The Russian tradition of Suprematism and Constructivism is the decisive source of inspiration for the visual field , whereby alternative aesthetic forms of communication are sought in the artistic actions and performances. In terms of literature , Aspei is based on experimental poetry in the tradition of Dadaism , Expressionism and Zaúm poetry. One focus of the cultural exchange was and is the art scene in Moscow.

In addition to catalogs for art and book exhibitions, Aspei has also published artist books with works by Eduard Steinberg , Wladimir Jankilewskij , Wladimir Nemuchin , Francisco Infante and Andrej Monastyrskij . Works by Russian poets have also been translated and published, e. B. von Wsevolod Nekrasov , Dmitri Prigow , Lev Rubinstein , Vilen Barsky . In Saint Petersburg there is a cooperation with the artists Olga and Alexander Florenskij , Wassilij Golubew , Evgenij Jufit and others. a. The Aspei publications and visual works of the Aspei Group were exhibited together with original works by Russian artists after the end of the Soviet Union not only in Germany (Offenbach (1999 and 2004), Bochum (2000), Bielefeld (2006)), but now under the changed political conditions also in Russia as an example of lively cultural dialogue (Kaliningrad (2003), Saint Petersburg (2008)).
