The Experimental poetry is most likely with the experimental poetry to explain. It can in particular be associated with visual and concrete poetry , which are also experimentally oriented.

Experimental poetry differs from experimental typography in that it is reduced to the graphic implementation, i.e. the design with a focus on writing. Initially, this was still produced with hand presses and letters of various sizes in lead and hand typesetting by typesetters in printing works. In the age of modern design media, a distinction should be made between these two terms.

In the elementary area, experimental poetry can sometimes be found in children in the form of finger games, counting rhymes and nursery rhymes. In the broadest sense, Japanese haiku and tanka lyrics can also be included.
