Assaad Halim Hardan ( Arabic أسعد حردان, Born July 31, 1951 in Rachaya Al Foukhar near Hasbaya ) is a Lebanese politician and has been chairman of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party since July 2008 .

The Greek Orthodox Christian joined the SSNP in 1968 and became chairman of the Central Politburo, where he also played a role in the Lebanese civil war . He was elected a member of the Assemblée nationale in the parliamentary elections in Lebanon in 1992 and represented the seat of Marjeyoun- Hasbaya, which was reserved for Greek Orthodox .

He was appointed to the government several times. Between 1990 and 1992 he was Minister of State under Omar Karami and Rachid Solh without portfolio, from 1995 to 1998 and from 2003 to 2004 Minister of Labor ; He was succeeded by Assem Qanso in 2004 .

Hardan studied at the Université Libanaise . He is married to Marlene Khnaisser and has three children - Fredrika, Fidaa and Halim.
