Assala Mostafa Hatem Nasri ( Arabic أصالة مصطفى حاتم نصري, DMG Aṣāla Muṣṭafā Ḥātim Naṣrī ; also Assalah and Asalah ) (born May 15, 1969 in Damascus ) is a Syrian singer .

Life

Assala Nasri grew up in a middle-class family in Damascus. Her father Mostafa Nasri was a well-known Syrian composer and singer. Nasri began to sing in public at the age of four. In 1986 her father died of internal bleeding after a car accident. At the age of 17, she and her mother had to look after her four younger siblings. Her professional musical career began in 1991. During the civil war in Syria in 2011, she opposed the Assad regime. She has her own show on Dubai TV called "Soula", with guest musicians visiting Nasri in her apartment.

Nasri has Syrian and Bahraini citizenship, is the mother of four children and is second married to the American - Palestinian businessman Tarek al Eryan .
