The Assendelfter chicken is an old domestic chicken breed from North Holland , which is widespread in the Netherlands . The Assendelft chicken is one of the speckled chickens and exists in the colors silver, lemon and yellow speckled. The breed was named after the street village Assendelft in the municipality of Zaanstad .
properties
The animals are good forage hunters in the wild and do not have any special requirements. The free run shouldn't be too small, however, as the breed is quite mobile and active. These industrious Leger were formerly as clucking used for broiler breeders because the broiler races usually no longer or not cluck safe. Today they are kept as country chickens .
They have a coarse rose comb on their slender heads and the wattles are rather small.
Dwarf form
A dwarf form of this breed also exists in the Netherlands.
Special association
In Germany, the breed is not looked after by any of the special clubs. In the Netherlands, they are looked after by the Assendelfter en Noord-Hollandse Blauwen Club, founded in 1981 .
