The ace Ears (mutatis mutandis translated from English dog-ears ) are a group of small islands in the archipelago of South Shetland Islands . They lie off the northwest coast of Robert Island and form the northern part of the Potmess Rocks .
The islands are probably known since the documented discovery of the South Shetland Islands by the British navigator William Smith in February 1819. They were mapped and descriptively named after their appearance between 1934 and 1935 by participants in the British Discovery Investigations .
