Assistant Professor
Assistant Professor is an academic term used in the United States , Canada, and many other countries. As a rule, a doctoral degree and, in some cases, a postdoctoral position lasting several years are required . The rank of assistant professor is under the settled the Associate Professor and roughly equivalent to the rank of lecturers ( lecturer ) at most Commonwealth universities. In the United States, the position of assistant professor is most often associated with a tenure track process. There are also visiting assistant professors and research assistant professors who are either employed on a temporary basis or whose salary has to be raised in whole or in part from third-party funds. The academic term is also often used as the English translation of similar positions in other countries.
