Assistant health and social affairs EBA is a basic vocational training in Switzerland.

The training lasts two years and is aimed at school-weaker students.

education

The vocational school is attended one day a week. Inter-company courses serve to deepen practical experience.

workplace

Health and social care assistants work in retirement and care centers, facilities for the disabled, hospitals and clinics or at the client's home.

predecessor

The predecessor of today's assistant health and social affairs EBA was the nursing assistant in the Swiss Red Cross (SRK). The training to become a nursing assistant SRK lasted one year, with school lessons being attended two days a week.

The degrees were not put on an equal footing. In theory, further qualification as an EBA health and social care assistant would be possible. However, we recommend further qualification as a specialist in health or care, as this also opens the way to higher vocational training .

The first training courses in some cantons began in 2011, in most of them training began in 2012.
