British International Pictures
Associated British Picture Corporation ( ABPC ), originally British International Pictures (BIP) was a Founded in 1927, British film production company, active until 1970. It was founded by John Maxwell after the British National Studios and its grounds, the Elstree Studios had acquired . In 1929 BIP produced the first British sound film, Alfred Hitchcock's Blackmail (Original: Blackmail ). Hitchcock was active between 1927 and 1933 for GDP and turned over this period ten feature films for the production company, including Hitchcock's last silent film The Manxman (The Manxman) .
After the Second World War, BIP entered into a distribution partnership with Warner Brothers for the American market. In connection with this, the name was changed to Associated British Picture Corporation. In 1969, ABPC was taken over by EMI and continued under the name EMI Films until 1990.
