Association Sœur Emmanuelle
ASMAE - Association Sœur Emmanuelle is a non-governmental organization that was founded in 1980 under the name “ASMAE” (Aide Sociale et Médicale à l'Egypte - les amis de Sœur Emmanuelle). Sister Emmanuelle , a Belgian nun who belonged to the Order of the Sisters of Notre Dame of Sion , built this organization.

The organization builds hospitals, social centers and schools for children in slums in Africa . The organization operates in nine countries: Burkina Faso , Lebanon , Egypt , India , Madagascar , Mali , the Philippines and Sudan . The head office is in Paris .
ASMAE is primarily committed to looking after homeless children. The organization's employees give homeless street children, handicapped children and children excluded from society an opportunity to reintegrate into society. ASMAE works primarily in the fields of education, health and psychology.
ASMAE is a non-political organization that mainly consists of volunteers. Sister Emmanuelle died in October 2008 at the age of 99. Since then, Sister Sara has been the director of ASMAE.
