from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Āstān-e Qods-e Razavi ( Persian آستان قدس رضوی) is the administrative organization that looks after the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad . The name has a wide variety of spellings (for example: Astan-e Ghuds-e Razawi) and means something like "Holy threshold (= palace, tomb) of Imam Ridhā (pers. Rezā)". Āyatollāh Khomeini called Āstān-e Qods (heart of Iran).

It is the largest foundation as well as the largest landowner in the country. It owns several banks, factories, companies, hotels, shops, museums, libraries and other institutions. Āstān-e Qods-e Razavi is one of the oldest organizations that has existed since the death of Imam Rezā about 1200 years ago. The main income of the institution is donations, donations and other transfers to the Imam Rezā Shrine. The Razavi brand manufactures over 100 different products in its own factories. The foundation owns around 700 hectares of land, including the Sarakhs free trade zone , in the Mashhad region alone . The organization is tax exempt as a religious foundation and the current director is Āyatollāh Abbas Waizh Tabassi .

history

In 818 the eighth Imam Reza died a martyr's death . From then on, the small village where this happened was called “Place of the Martyr”, today's Mashhad. A shrine was built towards the end of the century and has been visited by numerous pilgrims since then. However, in 993 the shrine was destroyed, but reconstruction followed shortly afterwards and it was expanded and embellished. The expansion continued for many years until the shrine had a burial chamber, a dome and an attached mosque and the village grew into a town. In the 14th century, Besitzstān-e Qods-e Razavi owned the shrine, the Bālā Sar mosque, some small buildings on the north side of the shrine, and a religious seminary. The rise of the Safavids to power not only meant that the Shia became the state religion, but also that the Imam Rezā shrine became one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Islam. Since the shrine was in a border area, fortifications were constantly being built around it and the city. The foundation itself then lost ownership under Reza Shah Pahlavi's rule , as he drove the secularization in the country, which was supposed to bring Iran into the modern age. Some parts of the foundation were nationalized in the process. His son Mohammad Reza Pahlavi relaxed the course towards religion, but the foundation only got its lost property back after his overthrow and has expanded steadily ever since. After the Iranian Revolution in 1979, the revolutionary leader Ayatollah Khomeini appointed Ayatollah Abbas Waizh Tabassi as administrator of the foundation. This reclaimed all property as well as merits and acquisitions that were acquired on the basis of foundation property. Since then, the foundation's capital has also been used to financially support the property of the foundation, which has led Āstān-e Qods-e Razavi to act like a tax-exempt large corporation and no longer just to maintain the pilgrimage site and care for the sick and poor , Orphans and pilgrims. According to his own statement, profits from the donations and reinvestments are to be put into social and cultural projects, but the total volume of the foundation has quadrupled compared to the past 1200 years of existence, which makes this claim appear very doubtful.

In addition to the management, which is chaired by the foundation administrator Āyatollāh Tabassi, Āstān-e Qods-e Razavi is divided into four other offices. The office for support and planning deals with donations from the foundation, draws up financing plans and issues budgets. Furthermore, this part takes care of the expansions and evaluates the corresponding plans. Other tasks are the protection of the systems, information gathering and processing as well as public relations. The head of the department is Sharbat Dar. The office for technical affairs and the development of donations is again divided into two sub-units. The building department monitors, secures and maintains the property and the department for technical systems is used to connect and maintain the operating infrastructure. The engineer is Ataee. The Office for Property and Assets regulates matters relating to urban areas such as the acquisition of permits, legal matters and also prosecutes debtors and people who have violated foundation law. It is also entrusted with the management of the systems, such as renting or documenting the systems. Mahdi Nejad is the head of this department. The last of the four is the Office of Sacred Places and Regulations, which primarily handles all religious institutions and affairs. This includes the maintenance of the shrine and the mosque or the care and hygiene of the pilgrims. In addition, special occasions and ceremonies are under their responsibility. Mr. Alavi is the head of this sub-department.
