The British company Aston Broadcast Systems was a manufacturer and developer of video font generators . Aston has been a supplier to many television production companies around the world.

Aston sold its products as complete hardware / software packages. This enables the use of highly specialized hardware, but the compatibility with computer systems based on MacOS or Windows is severely limited. The user interface and interface also take getting used to. An Aston font generator works with a special keyboard , in which a trackball is also integrated. As a result, however, the Aston systems are designed to a greater extent for the processes of television production than PC font generators.

However, in order to adapt the usability to the needs of a PC infrastructure, remote software (EGO, PC Gateway) has recently been developed, through which the font generator can be controlled remotely from a PC.

The Aston systems are in daily use by many media companies, for example the BBC or the NDR .

In 2009 Aston was sold to the Spanish company Brainstorm Multimedia SL.
