Atanas Trifonov Popov

Atanas Trifonow Popow ( Bulgarian Атанас Попов ; born January 13, 1906 in Gorna Lipniza , † 1972 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian biologist .

Popov was a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences . In his scientific work he dealt with agrobotanical variety systematics and agricultural engineering. He worked on the selection of grain, sunflowers, potatoes, beets and tobacco. He also bred new varieties.

Popov was named a Hero of Socialist Labor .
