A nuclear protection shelter ( ASU , French abri antiatomique , Italian ricovero antiatomico di sezione , Rhaeto-Romanic refugi antiatomic ) is a type of protective structure for troops acquired in 1964 by the Swiss army .

The ASUs were manufactured and buried in precast construction. After that, only the access hatch and a pipe for the air supply were visible. An ASU contains an air filter system that can be operated electrically or by hand with a crank, a gas lock at the entrance and sleeping areas.
