Atsuo Asami ( Japanese 浅見 敦夫 , Asami Atsuo ; * 1952 ) is a Japanese amateur astronomer and asteroid explorer .
He is a member of the Japan Spaceguard Association (JSGA) and operates his own small observatory ( IAU code 355) in Hadano , Kanagawa Prefecture , about 60 km southwest of Tokyo . This is mainly used to observe comets and asteroids. His work led to the discovery of a total of seven asteroids between 1997 and 1999.
