Attaia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Attaia (also Attea , Latin form Attaea ) was an ancient city in western Asia Minor.

It is often associated with the at Strabo as a city on the coast of Mysia called Attea identified, but it could be also about a prescription for Attaleia act. Attaia is otherwise only attested by its coinage, which suggests a localization near Germe in the border area between Mysia and Lydia .

The titular bishopric of Attaea of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to a late antique bishopric of the city .
