Attila Vural (born May 10, 1972 in Zurich ) is a guitarist from Stäfa in Switzerland .

biography

Attila Vural started his musical career at the age of 14. He played in various music projects (e.g. Saf-Inütill , Approaches ). He studied guitar playing a. a. at Claus Boesser-Ferrari . In his personal style to South American rhythms mix jazz borrowed melodies and motifs, as well as pop - melodies , which he merges with his percussive playing style to own soundscapes. In addition, Vural received important impulses from the experimental variations of the guitarist Heitor Pereira .

Inspired by Dominic Miller's CD First Touch , Attila Vural has been devoting himself increasingly since 1997 and since 2005 exclusively to the solo guitar, which he has both in 6-string and 12-string version, as well as in a 14-string custom-made in the form of a mandolin / Dobro combination plays. He currently also plays an 8-string guitar (Noldina).

Instruments

Attila Vural has been working with Zurich-based guitar maker Mitgel Noldin since 2003. So far, three instruments with very different characters have emerged from this collaboration:

The oldest model is a 14-string guitar, a Dobromandola. It is the implementation of the idea of uniting two instruments: a classic dobro and an exotic mandolin . Since its two necks, which are strung differently, are built very close to each other, it enables both sound sources to be played at the same time. A wide range of timbres is created between the unusually warm dobro and the setar- like mandolin.

The second model is a 12-string guitar which, despite its rather small body, sounds very powerful in overall volume and lets the basses shine. If you play it with a pick and generate loud strummings, you will hear a sound carpet of sound. The two upper pairs of strings doubled in unison, ee and hh, benefit from this sonority.

The latest model is an 8-string guitar called the Noldina. With its octaved D and G strings it has a bell-like tone. Her strength is not only in the orchestral and accompanying play, but also unites as a solo instrument and this regardless of the playing technique, with plectrum or fingerstyle.
