Heitor Pereira

Heitor Teixeira Pereira (born November 29 ) is a Brazilian musician and film composer . He worked with musicians such as Elton John , Seal , Rod Stewart and Willie Nelson . Pereira played guitar in the band Simply Red from 1988 to 1996 .

Pereira was born into a family of musicians and studied guitar and composition in Rio de Janeiro .

In addition to his career as a musician, Pereira works as a film composer, initially only for supplementary music (e.g. for Welcome to the Jungle , The Promise ), and since 2001 also as the main composer. Pereira works at Remote Control Productions , so he has already worked with Hans Zimmer , Harry Gregson-Williams , Klaus Badelt and Rupert Gregson-Williams . In addition, Pereira is active as a soloist for many film compositions (e.g. Pirates of the Caribbean - At the End of the World or The Sound of the Heart ). Pereira now lives in California with his wife and two children .

social commitment

Heitor Pereira supports the rights of the Awá Indians in Brazil , whose homeland is threatened by illegal logging . For example, he composed the film music for a video about the Awá for the human rights organization Survival International .

In 2006, Pereira received a Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement with Vocal Accompaniment for the song "What Are You Doing For The Rest Of Your Life?" by Chris Botti and Sting .
