Chris Botti (born October 12, 1962 in Portland , Oregon ) is an American jazz trumpeter.

Live and act

He became known as the solo trumpeter in the band of pop singer Sting , whom he accompanied for more than two years from 1999. Chris Botti has worked with artists such as Sting, Barbra Streisand , Josh Groban , Paul Simon , Dave Koz , Jeff Lorber , Bill Bruford , Tony Levin , David Torn , Lee Ritenour , Burt Bacharach , Brian Culbertson , Michael Bublé and Billy Kilson in his career so far worked together. In the early years he played in the ambient pop band The Blue Nile .

He plays a Martin Committee trumpet (large bore), which was handcrafted in 1939. He currently uses a silver-plated Vincent Bach 3 mouthpiece from 1926, previously he played on a Bach 3C from 1920. The trumpet is the same model that was played by Miles Davis .
