action

Anita Bergman only has a few days left, so her children Keith, Barry, Emily and Matthew decide to come home to say goodbye to her. However, Anita lives longer than expected, so the children have to continue to live under one roof. They soon catch up with the problems of the past, but Anita believes that as long as they stick together, they can solve anything. In a video shot by a son, the life of the family is portrayed and the mother says how she would like it to end. In the fourteen days described, the state of health rapidly declines. The children take turns looking after them, at last they take turns every two hours at night. Accompanied by the hospice, Anita is given increasing doses of morphine. Eventually she falls into a coma. An overdose appears to have occurred, possibly due to the exhaustion of the children. Anita's request that her ashes be scattered on her father's grave is carried out against the rules of the Jewish faith.

Reviews

In the New York Times of March 2, 2007, Stephen Holden praised Sally Field'stough, precise performance ” , which is all the more captivating because of its understatement, at no point did you get the feeling that she was only staging. According to Holden, the film also manages many other details such as the care in the hospice, the calls to the funeral home and the last farewell to family and friends. When trying to outweigh the sadness and worry with humor, the film gets into serious trouble, according to Holden, and the attempts to tell Anita's résumé with flashbacks also seem increasingly artificial.
