Angadrisma

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Angadrisma (* probably around 630 in Beauvais ; † probably around 695 in Oroër-des-Vierges ) was a Catholic saint and abbess of Oroër-des-Vierges.

Angadrisma was the daughter of a powerful Frankish noble family at the court of Chlothar III. and Lantbert's cousin , who trained her with Audomar . However, against her will she was married by her father Chrodebert to Ansbert von Rouen , in consultation with his father Siwinus. She then prayed to God that he would help her become a nun. A short time later she was disfigured by an illness (possibly leprosy) and so the connection was broken. After that, she became completely healthy again and received from Audoenusthe nun's veil. She entered the nunnery of Oroër-des-Vierges near Beauvais, of which she later became abbess.

During the Norman invasions in the 9th century , her bones were transferred to Beauvais, and she is still considered the patron saint of this city. It was in this environment that she wrote her first independent biography in the 11th century , although it largely takes over the information from Ansbert's biography and only adds a few miracle stories in connection with Beauvais.
