Atul Auto Pvt. Ltd. is an Indian commercial vehicle manufacturer based in Rajkot . The vehicles are auto rickshaws for the transport of people and goods.

history

The company was founded in 1986 as Atul Auto (Jamnagar) Pvt. Ltd. founded. Production did not begin until 1992, however. In August 1994, the company was renamed Atul Auto Pvt. Ltd. and the IPO.

Greaves Cotton diesel engines were used until 2007 . Switching to Lombardini engines posed problems for the company for several years. Atul Auto had a share of the tricycle market in India of 4.5% in 2014 and 6.19% in 2017-18. In 2014 the company had 193 dealers and 14 regional offices. The theoretical production capacity is 60,000 copies.

Atul Auto exports its products to Nigeria, Bangladesh, Kenya, Central and South America, East Africa, South Africa and Great Britain, among others. The export takes place as a finished vehicle or as a kit. The subsidiaries in Bangladesh and South Africa, among others, have their own assembly plants.

Models

Four models are offered with a payload of around 0.5 t: The Gem (with a production share of 58%) is available in two versions (for goods and people transport). The Gemini Dz (7%) is designed exclusively for passengers. Both models have a rear engine that can run on diesel or natural gas. The Shakti (29%) and Smart (3%) models are also available in versions for passenger and goods transport. However, both models have a front-mounted diesel engine.

Other drive types are liquid gas (since 2005) and electric drive (since 2016 in the Elite model ). Atul Auto is the only company in India that produces both front and rear engined auto rickshaws.
