Auchinleck Castle is a ruined castle on a rocky outcrop over the east bank of the River Lugar Water in the Scottish administrative division of East Ayrshire . Across the river is Ochiltree Castle .

The Auchinleck family had the castle built in the 12th century . Today only fragments remain on the red sandstone rock .
