Auchtertool was a whiskey distillery in Auchtertool , Fife , Scotland .

The distillery emerged from a brewery that was founded in 1650. Despite the good reputation of its beer, however, it was converted into a whiskey distillery in 1845. In the course of its history, the distillery changed hands several times and was bankrupt in two cases. In 1923 she came to Distillers Company Ltd. (DCL), which they shut down in 1927. The connected malt house was operated until the early 1970s, but then also closed. Except for a one-story building on Main Street , the distillery was demolished in 1985. Today the area is built on with houses.

Alfred Barnard toured the distillery in the mid-1880s, so that his notes provide a detailed description of the distillery. At this time the whiskey with the help of each one was rough blister ( wash still ) and Refining still ( spirit still ), whose volumes in 2500 or 1360  gallons were, burned . About 86,000 gallons of malt whiskey were produced annually and sold to Scotland and England .
