The Auckland University of Technology is a university in Auckland , New Zealand .
The main campus is on Wellesley Street in central Auckland , close to the University of Auckland . The TU Auckland has a second campus in Akoranga in the immediate vicinity of the Auckland Harbor Bridge.
In 2005, 22,111 students were enrolled at the university.
history
In 1895, the Auckland Technical School was founded and offered evening courses. In 1913 it was renamed Seddon Memorial Technical College and in 1960 Auckland Technical Institute (ATI). In 1989 the Auckland Institute of Technology (AIT) emerged. In 2000 the college was given university status and took its current name.
