Audio Two was a hip hop group from Brooklyn , New York City . The hip-hop duo gained particular fame through their hit single Top Billin , which is considered to be one of the best hip-hop songs ever recorded.

Career

Audio Two consisted of brothers Kirk Milk Dee Robinson and DJ Nat Gizmo Robinson. Their debut single Make it Funky was released in 1987, but the B-side Top Billin was the real hit and quickly helped the duo to fame and insipated many artists in the scene such as Stetasonic and Daddy-O. The first album was released a year later and is named after a line from Top Billin. What More Can I Say? was a success and cemented the success, the singles also got off to a successful start. With the advent of gangsta rap, the success waned again, after the release of their second album I Don't Care: The Album in 1990, both singles only achieved moderate placements. Unaware of the further development and the disappearing fan base, the third album did not appear, even if it already had a catalog number. Because of this, the duo broke up.

Audio Two paved the way for their younger sister MC Lyte , who reached number one on the Billboard charts with her hit single I Cram To Understand You (Sam) . She covered the hit single of her brothers Top Billin on her album Seven & Seven in 1998. Milk released the solo EP Never Dated in 1994 on the Rick Rubin's American Recordings label . Single Spam attracted attention, other tracks included duets with the Beastie Boy Adrock.

In 2007 Milk Dee recorded a verse for a remix of I Get Money by 50 Cent , in which he thanked all the artists who sampled Top Billin, for which he received high praise.
