Audley Shaw

Audley Shaw (born June 13, 1952 in Christiana , Manchester Parish ) is a Jamaican politician ( JLP ). He was Jamaica's Minister of Finance and the Public Service from 2007 to early 2012 .

Life

Shaw attended Knox College and Holmwood Technical High School in north east Manchester. He then studied in the United States at Northern Illinois University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Master of Arts in Marketing, Finance and Public Relations. From 1983 to 1986 he was director of public relations and advertising at Jamaica National Investment Promotions Limited (JNIP).

Shaw was temporarily General Secretary ( General Secretary ) of the Jamaica Labor Party (JLP) and has been Deputy Party Leader ( Deputy Leader ) since 1999 .

In 1989, Shaw was named a senator at the suggestion of opposition leader Edward Seaga . Since 1993 he has represented the constituency of North East Manchester in the House of Representatives . He was also able to decide the constituency for the JLP in the 1997, 2002, 2007 and 2011 elections. In the parliamentary elections on September 3, 2007, the JLP won a majority and formed the new government. Shaw, who was previously the opposition's fiscal spokesman, was appointed Treasury Secretary and sworn in on September 14, 2007. He was minister until January 6, 2012, and since January 19, 2012 he has been the financial policy spokesman for the opposition again.
