The Auenmoos is a raised bog in the area of ​​the Carinthian market town of Metnitz . It has been designated as a nature reserve since 1984 (LGBl. 38/1984) and is surrounded by the Auen landscape protection area (LGBl. 40/1984).

The Auenmoos is located in the rearmost valley floor of the Auenbach, one of the two source brooks of the Lassnitzbach (this flows into the Mur east of Murau ). It is around 1175 m above sea level and covers eight hectares. Around 30% of the area is taken up by a high mountain pine, by sedge meadows and by forest communities. 5% each comprise afforestation and an artificially created fish pond.

In the bog with its peat moss Bulten grow Schei Diges cotton grass , blueberry and heather .

The landscape protection area runs along the Auenbach and includes vegetation accompanying the stream and dry and moist meadows, which are often surrounded by hedges. Moist pipe grass meadows form the transition to the moor . It is 130 acres.
