Evangelical Resurrection Church in Wiener Neustadt

The Church of the Resurrection is a Lutheran-Protestant church building in Wiener Neustadt on Ferdinand-Porsche-Ring 4.

history

From 1787 a silk and velvet ribbon factory was set up in the Carmelite monastery by Christoph Andrä and Carl Friedrich Bräunlich, after which the former Carmelite church was used as a prayer house for the Protestant factory workers. During the fire in Wiener Neustadt (1834), the building at Allerheiligenplatz 1 was destroyed and rebuilt as a Protestant prayer house by the iron merchant Christoph von Habermayer in 1835 . The first service took place on May 28, 1837 with Superintendent Christian Heyser from Vienna. In the course of the construction of the Resurrection Church, the prayer house was taken out of use in 1909. The Church of the Resurrection was badly destroyed by aerial bombs in 1945 and was rebuilt by 1955. The spire was not restored until 1981. In 1986, the anniversary year, the church was named the Church of the Resurrection - also in memory of the reconstruction.

church

The church was built between 1910 and 1911 according to the plans of the architects Siegfried Theiss and Hans Jaksch . From 1956 to 1958 the new organ was built by the organ builder Johann M. Kauffmann from Vienna. The church tower has been used as a tower gallery for art exhibitions since 1986.

In the tower hangs a melodious peal from three bells from the bell foundry Pfundner from 1962.
