As a stand-up devices are referred to, that of a physically handicapped allow the person standing up from a low sitting or lying position or to facilitate. There is a wide range of different types of equipment.

Execution types

  • Rigid handles on beds are ladder-like attachments for mounting on the side edges of the bed. The person lying in bed can use their own physical strength to get into the sitting position on the edge of the bed. This can also simplify the process of moving from sitting to standing. This is useful support for many clinical pictures or in certain phases of illness.
  • Rise beds are care beds with the additional function of bringing those lying in the bed into the sitting position (feet next to the bed on the floor) by angling and turning the slatted frame. With the appropriate procedure, the seated person can also bring himself into a lying position. In the seated position, raising the body to the standing position can be significantly supported by raising the seat surface (similar to a stand-up chair ). In the case of many diseases ( Parkinson's , multiple sclerosis (MS), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), stroke , etc.), this overall function of the care bed and the swivel and seat function leads to a considerably longer independence or to greatly facilitating care.
  • Mobile stands with floor treads, knee support pads and handles are used on seating furniture and toilet bowls. The user places his feet on the base plate and pulls himself up using the high-lying handles. The knee support pads prevent sagging forward. An electrical auxiliary drive can also be used here.
  • Mobile or fixed stands with seat plate and electric drive support the getting up / sitting down process at floor level e.g. B. in floor gymnastics by lifting or lowering the seat surface, which can also exert a forward feed movement during the lifting movement, which also supports standing up.
  • Additional devices such as seat surfaces that can be placed on top or drive pedestals for armchairs and chairs lift the seat surface as a whole and especially the rear edge upwards and forwards and support the standing up process. It is driven by spring force , gas pressure springs or an electric drive .
  • Armchairs with a built-in stand-up aid follow the same principle as the additional devices described above. However, they are already equipped with it ex works (" stand-up chair ")
  • Seats with a lift drive ( lift seat ) on the car driver's seat or additional seat plates with an electric lifting device attached to the door spar serve as a stand-up aid for physically handicapped car users.
