The August-Bebel-Damm 17, 19 building is a listed administrative building in the Magdeburg district of the industrial area north in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is the seat of the Technical Police Office Saxony-Anhalt and is located west of the August-Bebel-Damm. A little further to the east is the port of Magdeburg .

Architecture and history

Beside the administration building of the complex also comprises a bunker and originated as part of the 1935/38 BRABAG - Hydrierwerks . It is a remnant of the extensive industrial settlements that arose in the vicinity of the Rothensee district in the 1920s and 1930s. In the hydrogenation plant, car and aviation fuel, diesel oil, propellant gas and smoldering tar were produced on the basis of lignite . The plant was part of the armaments industry of National Socialist Germany .

The four-storey, cubic-looking administration building is around 80 meters long and faces the street on the eaves side. The facade of the brick building is clearly structured. There are high slot windows in the area of ​​the stairways . The building is covered by a flat roof .

In the extension of the axis of the administration building there is an approximately 80 meter long, semicircular bunker made of reinforced concrete vaults . The bunker was necessary because explosive substances were used in production. The bunker also served as an air raid shelter .

In the local register of monuments , the building is listed as a monument under registration number 094 81879.
