Jürgen Stabe

Jürgen Stabe (born January 26, 1938 in Seifhennersdorf ; † November 8, 2015 ) was a German Protestant pastor , long-time chairman of the German Evangelical Alliance , superintendent of the Annaberg-Buchholz church district and author of non-fiction .

Life

Jürgen Stabe went to school in Zittau from 1944 , then began an apprenticeship as a farmer and continued his studies at a technical college . He then worked as an agronomist and economist in agriculture before he decided to study theology.

In 1977 he became one of the youngest church district leaders of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saxony in Annaberg-Buchholz . From 1981 on he was a member of the leadership of the Evangelical Alliance in the GDR , which in 1982 was recognized by the GDR government as an independent and legally responsible “Central Church Community”. From 1987 he was its chairman. From April 1991 to 1994 he was the first all-German chairman of the German Evangelical Alliance after German reunification , headed the Blankenburg Alliance Conferences and was committed to the Evangelical Alliance House in Bad Blankenburg, of which he was also a member of the supervisory board for many years. At the end of October 1999 he took early retirement for health reasons, but remained a member of the boards of the two German Evangelical Alliances until 2003. In the last few years he has become blind.

He was a member of the Czech-German working group of the Evangelical Brothers and the Evangelical Church in Germany, belonged to the board of trustees of the Christian Aids-Hilfsdienst e. V. and was one of the first to sign the initiative “Time to get up - an impulse for the future of the church” as a supporter.

Jürgen Stabe was married to his wife Brigitte and lived in Crottendorf .
