Fritz Laubach
Fritz Laubach (born January 31, 1926 in Lüchow ) is a German Protestant theologian and author .
Life
Fritz Laubach was born in Lüchow, Lower Saxony. During his time as a prisoner of war, the decision was made to study theology. Laubach began his studies first in Marburg , in 1948 he switched to the University of Tübingen . There he received his doctorate in 1955 under Professor Gerhard Rosenkranz with a thesis on the evangelical missionary pioneer Justinian von Welz . He was involved in the student mission in Germany (SMD) and later became its first travel secretary. From 1955 to 1959 he worked as a pastor in the Free Evangelical Church in Siegen-Geisweid . From 1959 to 1966 he was a lecturer at the Ewersbach Theological Seminary .
After the death of Friedrich Heitmüller , Laubach was appointed to the leadership of the Free Evangelical Congregation in Northern Germany in 1966. At the same time he became pastor of the FeG Hamburg-Holstenwall. In 1968 he became chairman of the "Elim Foundation", today the Free Evangelical Congregation Foundation in Northern Germany , which was fundamentally renewed during his tenure. From 1977 until his retirement in 1991 Laubach was the head of the Diakonie.
From 1984 to 1991 he was chairman of the German Evangelical Alliance . In 1993 he gave up his mandate on the main board for reasons of age. From 1986 to 1999 he was chairman of the aid organization Help for Brothers and the development aid organization Christian Specialists International (CFI). From 1968 to 1984 he was a member of the board of the Evangeliums-Rundfunks (ERF) based in Wetzlar .
With his 1972 book Aufbruch der Evangelicals , the term “ evangelical ” ( according to the gospel ) from the Anglo-American language area established itself in the German-speaking world.
Fritz Laubach is married to his wife Renate.
