Wuppertal Study Bible

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wuppertal Study Bible from R. Brockhaus Verlag is probably the most widespread Bible commentary series in German-speaking countries. The authors first translated the basic biblical text independently, then interpreted it in sections.

According to Fritz Rienecker in the foreword of the first volume, the Wuppertal Study Bible is intended to support “personal research on scriptures by the Bible reader”; in addition, she wants to "render auxiliary services in preparation for the ministry".

New Testament

editor

The Wuppertal Study Bible New Testament was founded and initially published by Fritz Rienecker (1897–1965). From 1962, with the appearance of the Romans' declaration, Werner de Boor (1899–1976) was co-editor. From the mid-1960s, after Fritz Rienecker's death, de Boor took over editing and completing the series together with Adolf Pohl (1927–2018).

For the "New Wuppertal Study Bible", i.e. the Wuppertal Study Bible including the supplementary volumes , the publisher names Fritz Laubach , Adolf Pohl and Claus-Dieter Stoll as editors in conjunction with Rolf Hille , Gerhard Hörster , Gerhard Maier , Christoph Morgner and Rolf Scheffbuch .
