The Help for Brothers International e. V., based in Stuttgart, is a mission association that was founded in 1980 on behalf of the German Evangelical Alliance (DEA) and the Working Group on Evangelical Missions (AEM). history

The founders Ernst Vatter and Winrich Scheffbuch wrote in their first letter from Help for Brothers to the Friends in 1980 about the beginnings that they repeatedly received calls for help from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe, the indispensable nutrition and development programs through support for evangelism and church planting.

The aid organization "Help for Brothers International", the development aid service "Christian Specialists International" and the placement service for short-term assignments "Co-Workers" form the association "God's Love Worldwide" and oversee 224 projects in 79 countries (as of 2020).

The association has supported Christian initiatives worldwide with financial aid since 1980. He is a member of the Working Group of Evangelical Missions . With the “ChanceMent” project launched in 2016, students can complete their compulsory internships abroad.

Christian professionals international

The Christian Specialists International Association (CFI) was founded in 1984 and in 1985, on the initiative of the then Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl, was recognized by the federal government as the sixth German development service provider . CFI recruits professionals for projects in the fields of education , consulting, health , technology and agriculture . The focus of the worldwide work is the promotion and training of local employees of the national churches and the support of Christian organizations, such as B. Overseas Services .

The EF-facts program is offered as part of the weltwärts initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development for skilled workers between 18 and 28 years of age. The voluntary service lasts twelve months and is partly funded by public funds.

CFI is a member of the working group Evangelical Missions and belongs to the Consortium Civil Peace Service (ZFD) and can send specially qualified peace workers for this purpose .

CFI has sponsored the information event “Youth Conference for World Mission” (JuMiKo) at the ICS Stuttgart, which has been held in January 1981 (initially every two years, since 2004) . Interested parties receive specialist lectures, exchanges of discussions with experienced missionaries, specific career advice and information about vacancies. With over 100 exhibitors, it is Germany's largest trade fair for jobs in mission and development aid. The organizer is the Christ Movement “Living Congregation in cooperation with community and youth associations, Bible schools and evangelical mission organizations.

Co-Workers International

The youth voluntary service Co-Workers, founded in 1995, supports local churches, development workers and missionaries worldwide in their spiritual work . Co-workers are at least 18 years old, have completed school or vocational training and have previously worked in a Christian youth work or community. The duration of the assignment depends on the type of work and the requirements of the location. As a rule, assignments last between six and twelve months. Most assignments are carried out as part of a voluntary service.

The work of Aid for Brothers is financed by donations as well as by means of the Evangelical Central Agency for Development Aid (EZE).

management

The managing director of the three plants was co-founder Winrich Scheffbuch until 2006 , then Ulrich Weinhold. Since 2020, the entire company has been represented by a management team consisting of long-term employees Désirée Schad (co-workers), Bernd Lutz (Christian specialists) and Tobias Köhler (help for brothers).
