August Alexander Kämmerer (born March 8, 1789 in Artern , Electorate of Saxony , † February 3, 1858 in St. Petersburg ) was a German geologist and pharmacist.

August Alexander Kämmerer worked as a chief pharmacist and mine director in St. Petersburg. Originally from Saxony, he founded the first pharmacy in St. Petersburg at the beginning of the 19th century and in 1818 helped to found the Petersburg Pharmaceutical Society. In 1845 he was appointed director. In Heidelberg he received his doctorate with the study "Overview of the theories of the geology of Werner and Hutton". The Imperial Russian Medical Academy appointed him first-class pharmacist, in 1824 he became a mountain chemist, soon afterwards head of the Oberbergapotheke. On behalf of the government, he went to Pyrmont in 1839 to meet with German naturalists and doctors. Emperor Nicholas I entrusted him with part of the teaching of the imperial children. On April 5, 1851, OBJ von Nordenskjöld named after him the Permsche Klinochlor from Ssaranowskaja - the Kämmererit variety . August Alexander Kämmerer donated his mineral collection to the University of Dorpat . Tsar Alexander II appointed him Real State Councilor with the title of Excellency.
