August Kirschmann
August Kirschmann (born July 24, 1896 in Oberstein , † November 8, 1967 in Idar-Oberstein ) was a German politician ( SPD ).
Life
Kirschmann did a commercial apprenticeship and worked as a businessman. In 1919 he became a co-founder of the socialist youth workers in Oberstein and a member of the SPD. 1922–1933 he was a member of the Oberstein City Council. In the time of National Socialism he could not continue his political work.
After 1945 he was chairman of the SPD Idar-Oberstein and from 1946–1957 a member of the Idar-Oberstein city council. For the SPD he was a member of the Advisory State Assembly in 1946/47 .
In 1964 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class.
