The Augustinerkirche is the church of the Trier convent of the Augustinian hermits , originally consecrated to St. Catherine of Alexandria . All that remains of the church is the long choir, which is now integrated into the town hall complex.

history

The convent of the Augustinian Hermits in Trier was first mentioned in 1271. The preserved four-bay long choir of the church with five -eighth closure was built around 1320. Only fragments of the north aisle, which was built around 1280, remain of the nave itself.

In 1802 the monastery was closed in the course of secularization . Today the long choir is the meeting room of the Trier city council.
