Aulus Gellius Celer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aulus Gellius Celer was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD .

A military diploma proves that Celer was prefect of the fleet stationed on the lower Danube ( Classis Flavia Moesica ) on August 20, 127 . Possibly Celer was a relative (or even the father) of Aulus Gellius , the author of the Noctes Atticae .
