Eruption of the Aurum Geyser

The Aurum Geyser is a geyser in the upper geyser basin of Yellowstone National Park in the USA . He is there on the Geyser Hill formation .

The Aurum Geyser is one of the jet-like geysers.

The eruption intervals of the geyser can be quite predictable from time to time. At other times, the eruptions are very irregular. Observations led to the theory that Aurum's activity was related to the meadows behind the geyser. When the meadows are wet, the geyser erupts regularly with an interval between eruptions (IBE) of three to four hours. When the meadows dry out in late summer and early autumn, the interval between eruptions becomes more difficult to predict and ranges between four and seven hours. Like most of Geyser Hill's geysers , Aurum has a weekly cycle.

The eruptions last about 90 seconds. The fountain reaches heights of 4.5 to 7.6 meters. The eruption is usually announced half an hour in advance by bubbles in two small adjacent chimneys. The main eruption is rarely followed by another smaller eruption after 5 to 10 minutes.

The Aurum Geyser can usually be observed from the Old Faithful WebCam over the Internet. However, he is relatively inconspicuous there.
