Apprenticeship

An apprenticeship relationship is a legal relationship that aims at training a person. Apprenticeship relationships exist in many different contexts.

  • If the apprenticeship relationship is based on a private law contract for the purpose of vocational training, one speaks of a vocational training relationship in Germany . Often only the shorter term training relationship is used synonymously .
  • In Austria and Switzerland, such a vocational training relationship is called an apprenticeship relationship , as was previously the case in Germany .
  • In addition to private-contractual apprenticeships, there are public-law apprenticeships in Germany :
    • For example, the public law training relationship for training lawyers ( legal traineeship ) in 15 federal states with the exception of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ;
    • or the public-law apprenticeship relationship for training with the aim of subsequent admission to career training for the middle fire service in accordance with the ordinance on a public-law apprenticeship relationship for access to training as a fire chief in North Rhine-Westphalia.
